Municipal spending should be fully transparent, Kingstonians deserve to know where and how their hard earned tax money is being spent. Excessive and improper spending drives up taxes and erodes the ability to fund important infrastructure, environmental, and social programs.

Property tax increases need to be kept under control. Purchase price isn’t the only barrier to homeownership, high property taxes are often cited as a reason why some people can’t afford to purchase a home in the City. Rising taxes also place an added burden on those who already own a home but are living on fixed or low incomes, sometimes threatening their ability to remain in their home.

Improving the efficiency of government by reducing red tape, reducing duplication, reducing waste, and eliminating unnecessary intrusions into the lives of individuals and businesses is essential.
